  From enemies to friends: Did it really happen?

  yesterday, they showed the story “from enemies to friends” at the kingdom hall.

  my mother in law told me about it as she was touched by the story.

  so then, later in the evening, i searched for the video and found it in the january 1st 2017 broadcast.

  Reminds me of El General, the South American pop star who returned to JWs and was shown at another meeting earlier this year. While the video implied he stopped his career cold 'for Jehovah', further research shows that "In 2004 he announced his retirement from the music industry following an incident with the Panama government because he canceled his diplomatic passport."

  They also failed to mention that he runs a charity called Poor Children Without Borders which wouldn't be good for them seeing as they only want you to donate to one charity, Watchtower.

  Oh get your mind out of the gutter. He's no pedo. If anything he's probably one of the more sincere GB members, seeing as he was raised in "the truth" and spent his entire life pioneering or at Bethel. Looking at and listening to him, I think he is generally in awe of his fellow GB members and considers it all a great privilege. I think he is sincerely duped. Being at that organizational level he undoubtedly gets exposed to some pretty disturbing stuff, but I'm sure he finds ways to rationalize them, like most of us did.

  edit: sorry, i meant to say in the title "2017 annual meeting".. so far all i've seen is an audio only version.

  however i just saw the beginning of cedar's new feature film about going to warwick and he used a clear clip from one of the am's videos, so a copy must be out there.

  jehovah's witnesses insist that jephthah did not sacrifice his daughter to jehovah.

  this is important to them because, rarther than jephthah just being a random bad person, jehovah was very much in on the deal.

  after all, he made the promise to jehovah that he would "offer up as a burnt offering" on his return the first thing to come out of his house if jehovah would give the ammonites into his hands in battle, and since they were this makes jehovah complicit.. the isrealites had been getting a good thrashing of late, and the gilead elders (oh boy) had come out to ask jephthah, the rejected son of a prostitute (wouldn't you know it) and renown soldier, if he would lead the isrealites into battle for them.. this is when jephthah makes the deal with jehobo, and it all centres on the word for "burnt offering", which is given as "olah".

  Plus, the NWT is the only Bible I know of that says that people would thereafter go to "give commendation" to Jepthas daughter. Every other Bible I've seen including the original Hebrew says that they would go to 'mourn' her.
